As a teacher, writer and consultant in the film industry, my greatest passion has always been empowering writers and film makers to realize their vision and get their stories on the screen. Over the past year, I have become much more deeply involved in working with studios and production companies, and in collaborating with my own writing/producing partner.

I have recently been involved with projects for Warner Brothers, Dreamworks, New Line, CBS, Lifetime, Propaganda Films, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Lopez, director Luis Mandoki, and a number of other writers and producers. As a result, I have greatly reduced the number of screen writing seminars I offer. Please see my schedule below. I have also significantly revised and expanded my critique and consultation service. I am limiting the number of writers I work with, and am transforming the process into a real one-on-one coaching experience, rather than just a one-shot critique.

The consultation process will now work as follows:

1. I will read the screenplay, making extensive margins notes throughout the script regarding all aspects of presentation, format, story concept, structure, character, dialogue, writing style and commerciality.

2. Upon completion of the script, my office will call to set up an appointment for our initial phone conference.

3. During this phone call, we will discuss not only my overall reaction to the screenplay, but your own passion for the story, goals for the screenplay, and marketing plan. This call is tape recorded, and usually lasts about 90 minutes. Your marked-up screenplay will then be returned to you via FedEx or Express Mail, along with the audiotape of our coaching session, and any related materials I feel will be helpful based on our conversation.

4. After reading my margin notes and reviewing the tape of our conversation, you will then outline your ideas for revising the story and screenplay.

5. Anytime within one month of our initial conversation, you can call to set up a second phone consultation.

6. During our second conversation, which I will also record, I will coach you on your proposed revisions for the screenplay, so that you will then be fully prepared to begin the rewrite of your screenplay. This final session usually lasts about 30 minutes.

The cost for this entire process is $850.00 for a feature length screenplay of no more than 125 pages. My fee for other formats such as TV episodes, treatments and outlines, or for one-on-one consultation and discussion, is $150.00 per hour. If the full consultation process doesn't fit your particular situation or budget, please call my office; I always do my best to accommodate whatever individual needs arise.

Prior to sending your screenplay, please review the submission checklist that follows, and then mail us your script along with a cover letter and a check payable to Hilltop Productions. As soon as we receive your script, we'll contact you with the estimated turnaround time. I do my best to set up our first conference within no more than a month.

If you have any additional questions or special circumstances regarding either my consultation service or seminars, please call us at 1-800-477-1947, or email mhauge@screenplaymastery.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Michael Hauge
